Ireland's Own article - Prince Napoléon in Ireland

Prince Napoléon (nephew of the Emperor Napoléon Bonaparte) visited Ireland in the summer of 1865. He was the second son of Napoléon's youngest brother, Jérôme, and I have just written a short article about Prince Napoléon visit in Ireland's Own magazine.

It was a private visit where he traveled to Dublin, Cork and Kerry and bought a selection of Irish-made items as gifts for his family back in France. This included Irish-made cloth and material, as well as furniture from a manufacturer in Killarney, Co. Kerry. You can find out more about James Egan, the furniture manufacturer who made intricate wooden tables and other items for wealthy clients here.

If you would like to find out more about Napoléon's visit to Ireland, there is an article about it here from the Dublin Historical Record journal. Below is a photograph of my article, which appeared in Ireland's Own on 15 April 2022.
