The Chronicling America website is a useful free resource to look at US newspaper archives. Below are just a couple of the front pages from 28 June 1922 when the Irish Civil War made headlines in a wide range of newspapers.
Many of the papers got their news from news agencies (Associated Press AP). It does not seem (from this random at least) that any of the papers had their own reporters on the ground in Ireland. Some of the papers got a little confused in who was who and the Pro-Treaty side were referred to as 'republicans' on one occasion.
